It’s a girl!!!!!

(I can now picture Lisa Mikey’s heart beating fast…)
Hamza and Grace had their baby shower this weekend (Saturday 16th September). They are having a baby girl – baby Hana Bunnya.
Hidden fact.
This was a surprise Baby Shower for the mother (Grace). The people organizing it forget to mention that little fact to me. I knew it was being planned for the longest time, but only found out it was a surprise the morning of the event! Luckily, I did not give it away. I can remember a few instances when I would have asked Grace about the Shower coming up on the weekend. I had been curious just because it was the “first real” Baby Shower I would be attending and I had always assumed men never went to them. But Nelly provided me some answers on how guys would fit in.
Surprise!
Hamza had made up a story of attending a baby baptism get together in order to make Grace show up for the Baby Shower. Meanwhile at the house, we started organizing ourselves preparing for the mother arrival. The signage at the front of the yard and on the front door was temporarily put down, and everyone gathered around the door waiting. I was positioned on the stairs looking straight down the main door as I was tasked with taking the pictures of Grace surprised. When the door opened, we all screamed – “IT’S A GIRL!”
Men/no men?
I made it through. I did pretty well in the games at the event – including the ‘Guess the size of the mother’s belly’, unscramble baby product names (improved my diction. I now know what a Onesie really is), jellybeans guess, baby animal names… I was doing well at these games.
The MEN/WOMEN ratio was not too bad. I was actually surprised to see many guys coming with pink-wrapped presents walking into a pink sign which says “it’s a girl”.

Well…A couple of things jumped into my head:
1. Wow, that was quick.
2. Too bad the kid will have to wear so much blue
3. At least I was there for the baby shower.
I guess I’ll have to wait until I receive that fateful Outlook reminder in 2008.
