ENGLAND: Day 5 (7/19): Ndalela’s Graduation Day
Posted: Jul 19th, 2006 at 11:59 am by chilumba
Nelly and Mubanga (aka Bangy) had decided to make an early morning Mall trip to Harrow – and I had to go too. We were doing well with time there, but got delayed around lunch time when we had to wait for a Kebab/Sharwarma restaurant to open at noon(the time we were supposed to be back in Greenford enroute to the graduation ceremony). The food was good, but took time to be ready and served. We hit into panic mode and asked for a cab as time was running out. Multiple phone calls came from Ndalela as he too hit into panic mode. The graduation rule was -
You don’t show up on time = = You don’t get to be in the graduation ceremony
Clearly, Ndalela wanted to be called out and be in the ceremony.
We struggle with cabs with cabs until one finally showed up. Traffic back to Greenford was horrible. When we got back, we had to take military style 5 minute showers, and got suited up in record time. We got to event on time. Ndalela was going to graduate today!
It was a great ceremony – though the AC in Wembly Hall was low, making it pretty hot.
Ndalela graduated, and can now add a few more titles to his business card.
Later in the evening, the graduation celebration continued into Ealing where we had some great Indian food. The waiter at the restaurant was a pretty cool guy. He joked with us, and acknowledged the new graduate at the dinner table.
After the restaurant and while walking back to the car, we decided to stop at a bar to enjoy a few drinks. It was yet another bonding event as we continued with great conversation and delicious drinks. It was a really-really-really cool evening.
