ENGLAND: Day 4 (7/18): Surprise!
Posted: Jul 18th, 2006 at 11:59 am by chilumba
Birthday surprise call from mommy in Zambia.
Birthday surprise cake and birthday singing by Ndalela, Buka, Mubanga, Nelly and Aunt Mary.
I also got a birthday call from Shivani – she is currently not in London, but we still might manage to meet up sometime this week.
Chinese restarant –
Got a taste of Chinese food in England. I noticed that their spring or egg rolls were really small compared to the ones in the US.
I asked for chopsticks and ate my meal with them. That was officially my 6 th full meal using them since the time I started learning (see Chopsticks posting).
Buka’s university – University College London (www.ucl.ac.uk)
We did a quick tour of the university buildings and saw the flat Buka lived in (with a birds eye view to the busy street and the Chinese restaurant). The uni is right in the city, and some cool hangout places were pointed out. We took the tour overlapping the Euston and King’s Cross stations.
Later in the evening we went to Troy Bar, which had an ‘Open Mic Live Performances’ night – and met Chitundu, an old time acquaintance. Chitundu dedicated the song he perfomed to me, and acknowleded Nelly and I visiting. As the night progressed, and while listening to the different artists, Mubanga decided Sambuka shots were a good way to get the birthday boy inebriated
