[Carnival Cruise] Day 5 of 8: Thursday, December 18th
Posted: Jan 19th, 2009 at 8:27 am by chilumba
Around 9AM, we arrived at second port of call – Mazatlan, Mexico
Our excursion – “Shopping, Beach, and Lunch”
The excursion starts off by jumping into jeep like taxis, which take us from the ship dock through town (on what is described as a ‘scenic ride’) to the Golden Zone at the Aztec Theatre. There are some traditional performances happening at the theatre, with a young boy playing with cow-boy rope. The highlight at the show are the daredevil Totona Indian ‘Papantla Flyers’ who perform stuffs on a very-very-very tall pole. These guys were swinging about 100 feet high, with rope tied to their feet! Crazy!
We walked around after the show, and we found ponchos which were way-cheaper than the ones we had seen at the previous port. Oh well…. I decided to get another one from here. My Poncho collection has increased.
After that, we walked across the street to the resort hotel (I don’t remember the name) where we were to have lunch, and have a chance to be on the beach. The lunch was not that good, but it was edible. We also each had 2 drink tickets – and I used mine to try out the Mexican Pacifico beer. Just like the other resort in Puerto Vallarta, we swam at this resort pool. We lazy’ed around on the pool chairs, and I finished up reading my book – The Alchemist.
Shopping, Beach & Lunch excursion -
Shopping: Exposure to the Aztec Theatre
Beach: Walk on the beach at the hotel resort
Lunch: The OK food at the resort
Later in the evening on the ship, there was comedy by JeROME (http://www.myspace.com/jeromeplanet) - a comic based in LA. He has some pretty cool stuff, and did some Michael Jackson moves.
