Chopsticks and me
Posted: May 31st, 2006 at 1:58 pm by chilumba
When Mikey arrived this morning, he had a box with him in his hands. He had brought me a present – wrapped in his ‘signature red’ paper.
Wrapped in the box were beginner chopsticks. These are Chopsticks which have a hinge at the top. Kids usually learning to use chopsticks start with something like this (or regular chopticks with a rubber-band at the top to hold the sticks together).
For a while, I have always given Mike a hard time for not teaching me how to use Chopsticks. When we went for DimSum last weekend, Mikey and Melody jumped right into the food when it was available, while Nelly and I waited for folks, since our chopstick skills were non-existant.
So when i got these new utensils, I jumped on the opportunity to use them.
Here is the email I sent showing my excitement to test drive my new utensils
I made sure to go to the Teriyaki place at lunch and I even told them No Fork needed!.
I came back to my office so that I can play with my new utensils in private.
RESULT:
The good news: I did pretty well picking up the chicken and the shrimp pieces
The bad news: Someone should have hidden the spoons I seemed to have kept in my office (probably saved them for cereal). I just was not able to get good chunks of rice with my chop-sticks.
EXPECETED:
Watch out! I am going to make sure I use them perfectly soon.
CONCLUSION:
Practice! Practice! Practice!I hope I can give a better report next time.
Your technique has definitely improved. I salute you in your chopstick-ing ways!
REMEMBER: It is rude to lick sauce off of your chopsticks.
