Last week, Nelly got admitted into the Masters of Science in Finance program at Seattle University. For a few days, I have been having sleepless nights as I was wondering why I was not receiving my admission notice since Nelly and I took the GMATs at the same time, and applied at the same time too. Only difference is that I was going into the MBA program, but we were in the same school of Business and Economics. This was driving me nuts, and I starting anticipating getting a rejection notice. Maybe my personal statement was not as impressive!
Early this week, I called the university to see if there was anything they were waiting on. I was told a decision was already made, and I should be receiving a response in the mail – they would not tell me over the phone the admission decision. The person (lady) I was talking to knew the decision. She said I could potentially call the admissions counselor if I don’t get the mail. The word counselor started ringing in my head – I was guessing that a counselor is needed to break bad news, talk you into reasons of decisions, and pumper you to apply next time. These assumptions might very well be true.
On Tuesday, I got the mailings I was waiting on from Seattle University. One of the statement said the school was looking for strong candidates and with diverse backgrounds. I kept on thinking to myself – I have those! I have those! I then started speed reading looking for the words “unfortunately” or “congratulations”. I did find one of the words while speed reading!
Ola is already in the MBA program at Seattle University. He is almost completing a year (or has done a year). I was classmates with Ola and Washu, and took the same engineering courses. Why would the university not allow us to be classmates again? Well, that is a good question. The university DID allow Ola and me to potentially be classmates again. I got accepted into the MBA program at Seattle University!!!!
So after almost 4 years, I am going to start buying text books again. (Does buying GMAT study books count as text books?). I am looking forward to business school. Classes start the 3rd week of September. I will soon be making an appointment with my advisor so I can zero in on my concentration or what I want to specialize in!
Congrats (to you and Nelly)! Looks like our classes start the same day. Don’t forget to pack your lunch box and take a first day of school picture for you mother!
